General Services

Visiting the Library

Library members and the general public are very welcome to visit the Library with their children.  However, please note that minors should be accompanied all times by an adult.  We regret that minors cannot be left alone in the Library without adult supervision and that Library staff are not able to provide supervisory services.

Joining the Library

Library membership is free and open to all.  Please note that in order to join as a Library member, there is a requirement for the applicant to be 18 years or older.
To join the Library, please complete and submit the online form.

Reference and Enquiry Services

You are welcome to ring or visit the library for assistance in accessing information within the resources of the library.

Private Study Booth

Use of the private study booth is on a first-come-first-served basis.  Registered library members may reserve the study booth by calling or emailing their request to the Library.
Please note that we are able to hold the booking for up to 15 minutes.  Thereafter the booth will be released to other users.

AV Previewing Facilities

Because there is an extensive range of audiovisual resources, the library provides viewing and listening facilities to allow previewing before borrowing.

Recommend a Title

The Library welcomes title recommendations from members, to be included in the collection.  These may be submitted via the Recommend a title form.  All recommendations are considered in light of the Library’s Collection Development Policy.

Catholic Schools Courier Service (CEWA Schools Only)

School staff may ask to borrow directly from the Library or to use the courier service which operates each week of the school term.

Items requested from the library can be sent to your school on Friday each week during school term.

Can’t get to us? Don’t despair.  Email sjhnlibrary@cewa.edu.au with details of the items before Thursday and you will receive the item (subject to availability) on Friday the same week.

Please note: Restrictions on Oversize Resources via CEWA Ltd School Courier Service

Please note that the Library is currently unable to send items such as Big Books or resources considered oversized via the CEWA Ltd School Courier Service.  Such items can be loaned to Library members if they are able to arrange in-person pick up during loan and drop off for return.  Standard resources can still be sent/return via the School Courier Service provided they fit in the Library courier bags.  For more information please contact the Library at 9278 0201 or email sjhnlibrary@cewa.edu.au.
